A defense of the use of national Teaching Cases in Entrepreneurial Education

Authors

Abstract

Teaching cases are educational methods that immerse the target audience in situations that simulate reality. However, the majority of teaching cases produced and disseminated are of a foreign nature. Nevertheless, a pressing challenge remains: how to provide an active, holistic, impactful, and contextualized entrepreneurial education using means that are disconnected from the national reality. This paper provides an argument in support of the utilization of national teaching cases within the context of entrepreneurial education. It goes on to delineate a series of steps and identifies the constituent factors that contribute to the development of novel teaching cases by Brazilian authors. It is expected that entrepreneurial education based on the social and economic context of business can effectively contribute to the development of more assertive skills and the growth of more sustainable companies.
